Update and Uh-Oh....

* Mom had some good news from her CT scan earlier this week.  Tumor, on her pancreas, has shrunk significantly.  My brother Joel's take was that even the doctors were surprised at how much the radiation shrunk the damn thing.  I'd like to think that the earlier "bring down the herd" chemo helped set this up to happen with this completed chemo / radiation protocol.   So, some up news for a change.  Mom will likely have surgery in the later part of May.

* Unusual pattern being seen on some modeling for early May. Big cut-off low could bring freezing temps to the Carolina's around May 3rd to May 9th.  Can't even begin to tell you how devastating a freeze (over several nights), at this time of year, would be for every sort of growing plant.  If the Spring nectar flow goes south, I'll have bees in trouble.  Here's hoping it doesn't verify; but color me leaning worried right now.

Oh yeah.. still around...

* Yeah still around. My priorities have shifted as you all know.  So, twitter the best way to follow.  Even at that, social media has run its long form course with me.  Nine years of it and now, it all just seems no longer cutting edge.  Meh, we'll see.

* Mom update...  we await her CT scan this week; Wednesday.  Based on that, decision will be made about how things will or will not progress.  Mom turned the corner on her appetite this weekend.  The radiation really took it out of her.  Time to get her bulked back up.

* Temps start recovering this week.  We will flirt with some mid to lower 70s starting Tuesday.  A few showers and storms could move through our area late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.  Other than that, the week is not horribly busy from a forecasting or severe weather tracking standpoint.

* We are hosting the area mets and NWS Thursday of this week.  The annual Spring Weather meeting by the NWS-GSP, will take place.  Local mets will attend and my bosses were gracious enough to spring for some snack for the meeting. I haven't seen many of these people face to face for years.  Every so often, you have to shake a few hands and pick a few of your fellow mets brains about this madcap business of broadcast meteorology.

* Bee packages should be in later this week or early next.  4 new hives. Many months of feeding to help them get established.  With luck, the one surviving hive, we should be able to get honey off of by late May or early June.

Evening...

* Don't know that I'm fully in love with the big concept for a lot of severe tonight.  Trends seem to be backing away from major problems.  But, I'm not stupid enough to suggest we are out of the woods.  Until the other shoe drops, got to keep an eye on the sky.

Stormy night ahead...

* I'd kill if this cloud cover would stick around.  Alas, some sunshine possible this afternoon.

* Damaging winds and tornadoes will be possible later today and tonight, until the boundary passes.
